What we customize (and how we keep performance honest)
First, we define the room objective: clarity, comfort, or accuracy. Next, we define coverage and thickness. Then, we coordinate mounting and finish. Finally, we deliver a buildable scope that installers can execute cleanly.
- Size + thickness: scaled to the room volume and target behavior.

Why scale to room volume? Reverberation time (RT60) is how long a sound takes to fade by 60 dB after it stops. Sabine’s equation ties it to the room’s volume and its total absorption, measured in sabins. So a larger room needs more panel area to reach the same target. How We Design Custom Acoustic Panels
Off-the-shelf panels come in a few standard sizes and colors. Custom acoustic panels, on the other hand, are built around your room: specific dimensions, shapes, fabrics, colors, printed artwork and mounting methods. As a result, they can blend into the architecture or become a design feature in their own right. For example, hexagon and other patterned acoustic panels can turn a plain wall into decorative art. Performance still comes first, though. We choose the core material and thickness based on tested absorption, using ratings such as the Noise Reduction Coefficient measured under ASTM C423. For reference, the NYC DEP Residential Noise Control Guidance Sheet recommends looking for panels with an NRC of 0.7 or higher. Then we model where the panels should go, so you get the most echo control from the least wall area.

How thick should acoustic panels be?
Generally, thicker panels absorb lower frequencies better. That is because porous panels work best when their depth, plus any air gap behind them, nears a quarter of the sound’s wavelength. So spacing a panel off the wall helps, too. For speech, 1 to 2 inches often works well, while music rooms may need deeper panels or bass traps.
Are custom panels fire-rated?

Do custom acoustic panels block sound between rooms?
No. Panels reduce echo inside a room. So to stop sound passing through walls, you need soundproofing assemblies.
